Tiszazug is the in untouched natural values richest part of the Great Plains, embraced by Rivers Tisza and Körös, whose youngest municipality is Cserkeszőlő. The popularity of the village is thanked to the 82°C (179.6°F) thermal water, rising from a depth of 2,300 m and discovered in 1943. The thermal water rises here at a unique temperature in Hungary, thus it is able to achieve a relaxing and healing effect in the shortest period of time. The effective medicinal water has proved its therapeutic effects on the basis of experiences of decades, its alkali chloride and hydrogene carbonate water has an official medicinal water certificate. In the completely reconstructed spa and beach, the chronic locomotor, rheumatic and gynecological diseases can be cured effectively. The local medical office, physiotherapy and massage and underwater water jet massage treatments serve the comfort of the patients.
The hot water pools and the swimming pools with a pleasant temperature operate during the whole year. The specifically designed oceanic wave pool, the swimming and educational pool and pools for young children mean a diverse experience from May until October. The two-lane tarpaulin slide and the wave pool, generating the waves of the Pacific Ocean can be found in Cserkeszőlő for the first time in Hungary!
Various therapeutic treatments, especially for rheumatic diseases, chronic joint problems, injuries of accidents and gynecological diseases are waiting for the patients, who wants to be cured and relax.
Catering facilities belong to the Spa and Beach, located in a 8-ha area, where hot and cold foods and drinks are served and an automatic bowling field, sand football field and a minigolf field are waiting for the guests.
History of the thermal well:
It happened in 1942, that oil was searched at the border of Cserkeszőlő, but 92°C (199.4°F) thermal water rose from the depth instead, that was locked immediately, saying, it is valueless and is type of liquid, that cannot be used in engines. But the fantasy of the inhabitants was moved by the presence of the hot water - that has been the hottest medicinal water of Hungary for a long time - so the well was reopened in 1948, but they were unable to relock it again.
The wellhead was located in the middle of such a grape plantation and fruit trees, where the hot water would have been destroyed the cultivated plants, so the farmers have dug a trench for weeks, where the water was drained from the grapes and fruit trees.
There were many people among the diggers, who had aching legs, waists or they suffered from rheuma or diseases of the joint. After a few hard-working days - that they spent in the pouring watery mud - they experiened their pains disappeared. These were the first observations about that it may be medicinal water.
Later small ridges were dug into the soil along the main riverbed and next to the channel, in which the water had been poured in and when it cooled down, they sat in it and this way they became the first guests of the bath.
The water of „Cserke“ gained a popularity among the people fast. More and more people arrived to relax, hike and heal. The neighbour municipalities noticed later, how many visitors Cserkeszőlő has - because of the medicinal water with a great content and character. Cserkeszőlő Spa was opened on 1 May 1953 with the help of former Szolnok County Council with three pools and locker rooms for men and women with coathangers, with the expectations of that era.
After the political transformation, Cserkeszőlő Spa became self-governmentally-run in 1992. Not a true attention was paid to the reconstruction of the raunchy pools and locker rooms until 1998.
But the self-government made a decision on the construction of a spa, meeting the challenges of that age in autumn 1998 and it started the development of the spa and tourism with great plans. The result of this are the well-cared park of several hectare area, the approximately 20 pools and elements of experience, the continuously growing portfolio of wellness and therapy for all age groups!
